Upcycling Workshop: Drawstring Pouches
Sunday, November 08
1:00pm - 3:00pm
Intended for adults.
Hosted at the Makerspace @ McLean Branch.
Advanced registration required.
This free community workshop will teach participants how to repurpose secondhand materials into a drawstring pouch that can be easily opened and resealed. Participants will gain an understanding of basic sewing and textile crafting skills, while creating thoughtfully produced items suited for their needs. This workshop will introduce a way for community members to come together and foster creativity, and take part in sustainable, hands-on learning experiences.
All materials and supplies will be provided, including reclaimed denim, polyester or cotton, sewing tools, and embellishment materials. This workshop requires some prior knowledge of sewing, and a time commitment of 1–2 hours.
This workshop is hosted by the Green Neighbours Circular Project. The Green Neighbours Circular Project promotes sustainability and waste reduction by keeping the good stuff out of landfills and into the hands of people who’ll love them. Through repair, reuse, and hands-on learning opportunities, they encourage the community to bring what they don’t need, fix what they love, build new skills, and help make sustainability a little more fun.
