Winter sowing is a gardening technique that involves planting seeds outdoors in winter using mini-greenhouses made from recycled containers, allowing seeds to germinate naturally as temperatures warm in spring.
There will also be a hands-on activity in which participants will have the opportunity to plant seeds in containers to be left outside. We ask that all participants bring a recycled, translucent container at least 6 inches deep, such as a water jug, vegetable oil container, or vinegar jug.
Presented in partnership with the Durham Master Gardeners.
